A De Gruchy Department Store

King Street, St. Helier · Listed Building Grade 3 · Reference HE1146

Listed status is a real legal constraint

Under the Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002, alterations, extensions and demolition of a listed building or place typically need Listed Building Consent, on top of ordinary planning permission.

C19 department store. The group of C19 buildings has a grand presence on King Street and retains historic character. Good example of a Victorian arcade whose structure remains little altered. The 1924 entrance is imposing and largely unaltered, retaining its structural and stylistic integrity.
