Jersey planning applications: type of work and outcome
3,402 applications on the Government of Jersey Planning Register, classified by the same type-of-work model used for the cost estimates elsewhere on this site. Jersey's planning register does not publish an applicant, agent or architect field, so — unlike guernsey-site's own /planning-matrix, which cross-references named firms against applications — there is no reliable way to attribute these to a specific architect or surveyor here. This page reports what can honestly be shown instead: the volume, approval rate and typical timeline for each kind of work. See architects and surveyors working in Jersey. Each row is also a dated signal of real design and trade spend about to happen — see what that work is actually made of for why it's worth watching if you're one of those trades.
What are the odds? Approval rates by type of work
Every application in this dataset, classified by the same type-of-work model used for the cost estimates elsewhere on this site. Overall: 2,707 of 3,158 decided applications approved (86%).
| Type of work | On file | Approved | Refused | Withdrawn | Pending | Median time to decision |

| Summerhouse / small garden structure | 85 | 80% | 15% | 5% | 3 | 49 days |
| Swimming pool | 34 | 87% | 13% | 0% | 3 | 57 days |
Approved/refused/withdrawn percentages are of that row's decided applications only (pending is excluded from the percentage and shown as its own column). High approval rates partly reflect self-selection — proposals unlikely to succeed are often never submitted, or are withdrawn after pre-application advice. Time to decision is measured from the register's received date to its decision date. Types with fewer than 30 decided applications are left out rather than shown on a sample too thin to mean anything.
- Demolish & rebuild dwelling applications are approved 75% of the time — less often than the 86% island-wide average across all decided applications (142 decided). Every type of work
- Planning applications in St Lawrence are approved at 82% — 7 points below the island-wide average of 89% (198 decided applications). Approval rates by parish
Where the activity is
Applications, approval rate and average estimated cost of works by parish — the same cost-estimate model used on every planning application on this site, aggregated. A guide to where building activity concentrates, not a ranking of anything else about a parish.
